How ResidencyHome works

People in healthcare move constantly: new assignments, new programs, new hospitals. That makes us easy targets for rental scams and middlemen. ResidencyHome is a community where healthcare workers house each other directly, with verified badges and simple tools to report bad actors.

If you're looking

  1. Search by city, hospital, type, price and your assignment or move dates. Tick Verified members only if you like.
  2. Join free with any email: a 6-digit code, then your name and role. That's it.
  3. Message the lister from the listing page. All conversations live in your inbox.
  4. See it, then agree: tour or live video first, then a written lease, sublease or purchase agreement.

If you're selling or renting out

  1. List in about 2 minutes: type, price, city and state. Photos and details are optional.
  2. Get verified (optional) so your listing shows the badge and appears in verified-only searches.
  3. Talk to healthcare workers directly, then pause or delete the listing when it's taken.
  4. Keep the commission. On a $350,000 home, a 5.5% commission is about $19,250. Try the savings estimate.

Safety & scam prevention

Protecting people who move for work

Travel nurses and residents are frequent targets of fake listings, deposit scams and predatory middlemen, because we often sign from out of town on a deadline. Here's how ResidencyHome helps, and what we ask every member to do.

✓ Verified badges

Shown on listings, profiles and messages for members who confirmed a school or hospital email or a license.

⚑ Report button

On every listing, profile and conversation. Admins review reports and can remove listings or suspend accounts.

↔ Direct, no middlemen

You talk to the owner or leaseholder, not a broker or “placement” service taking a cut.

  • See it before you pay

Tour in person or on a live video call where the lister walks through the actual unit. No viewing, no money.

  • Never wire a deposit

Don't wire money, send a deposit to “hold” a place, or pay with gift cards, crypto or payment apps to someone you haven't met. Those payments are nearly impossible to get back.

  • Look for the Verified badge

Verified members confirmed a school, hospital email or license. It helps, but it isn't a guarantee, so still follow every tip here.

  • Beware of too-good-to-be-true

Rent far below market, a lister who is “out of the country”, pressure to decide today, or requests to move off-platform right away are classic scam signs.

  • No application fees to strangers

Be wary of anyone asking for an application or background-check fee before you've seen the place or signed anything.

  • Get it in writing

Use a written lease, sublease or purchase agreement. For sales, use a real estate attorney, inspection and title insurance.

Honest note: we can't screen every listing or guarantee any member, verified or not. Verification lowers risk; it doesn't remove it. If you think you've been scammed, report it here and to the FTC.

Verification: a badge, not a gate

Instant

Sign in with a .edu or participating health-system email and your badge appears automatically.

License review

Enter license type, number and state. An admin checks public state-board records.

NPI check

Have an NPI? We look it up in the public NPPES registry to speed up review.

Everyone can join, list and message without verifying. Unverified accounts have lower daily limits on new listings and new conversations to discourage spam.

FAQ

Who can join?

Anyone who works or trains in healthcare: nurses and travel nurses, NPs, PAs, medical students, residents, fellows, physicians, therapists, pharmacists, techs and more. Join free with any email address.

What does the Verified badge mean?

It means we confirmed a member's healthcare connection: they signed in with a school (.edu) or participating health-system email, or an admin reviewed the license (and NPI, if given) they submitted. It is a helpful signal, not a background check or a guarantee. Not every member is verified, and you can filter for verified members only.

How do I get verified?

Sign in with your school or hospital email for an instant badge if your domain is on our list, or go to Get verified and enter your license type, number and state (plus NPI if you have one). An admin reviews it, usually within a couple of days.

What does it cost?

Listing and messaging are free during the prototype phase. There are no commissions or transaction fees.

Is ResidencyHome a real estate broker?

No. We're a listing and messaging platform. We don't represent buyers, sellers, landlords or tenants, and we're not a party to any agreement. For purchases, we recommend a real estate attorney, a home inspection and title insurance.

Can I see listings without an account?

Yes. Anyone can browse. You need to sign in (free, any email) to see contact details, message members or post.

How do I avoid rental scams?

See the place in person or on a live video call before paying anything. Never wire money, pay a deposit to 'hold' a place you haven't seen, or pay with gift cards or crypto. Prefer verified members, use a written lease, and report anything suspicious with the Report button on any listing, profile or conversation.

What is a travel nurse listing?

A furnished place offered for a typical 13-week assignment (often with the option to extend), priced by the month, ideally near a hospital. Filter for them on the Travel nurses page.
